Conn Model 914 Multi-Vider.
I think this sort of effects box is also called an Octaver, Octave Divider, Pitch Shifter…..
Sound comes in from mic or pick-up to the Multi-Vider and the Multi-Vider outputs a mix or match of one octave up (“SOP”), one octave down (“BASS”), or two octaves down (“SUB-BASS”) from the acoustic sound of the instrument being played. You can also mix in the original pitch/tone of the instrument being played. You can get real funky.
The unit comes with a belt clip on the back so you scale the heights of funky musical geekdom by wearing the unit on your belt.
This is a very clean unit, showing no wear. I acquired it from a seller who said it was NOS (New, Old Stock) from a music store going out of business. You can tell from the photos that it is very clean.
That said, I have not yet tested it. If you are local to Madison, WI, you can probably make arrangements to borrow it to try it out. I will…eventually…get around to testing it. I have some new piezoelectric film pickups that I am going to put under the mouthpiece ligature to see if they are a viable option to work with EFX boxes like this Multi-Vider. It may require a preamp.
