Kay O’Brien “Double Chamber” Alto Sax Mouthpiece
This is a Kay O’Brien, Detroit, Double Chamber mouthpiece for the alto saxophone. The front chamber, nearest the tip, is small by virtue of a thick roof (baffle) and sidewalls. The throat (the transition from chamber to bore) is well forward from where the neck extends into the mouthpiece, rendering the extended bore as the rear chamber.
I assume this O’Brien (Detroit) has nothing to do with the O’Brien that made the glass mouthpieces in Elkhart.
Facing marked as A3*, has o.067″ tip opening. and a 23mm facing length.
A lively mouthpiece with a vibrant core.
It comes with the single-screw ligature shown. That is a cool ligature, but it is a little too tight and I have trouble getting a reed to fit…a vintage LaVoz reed anyway.
Not sure if the website “shopping cart” and shipping calculator is working. Dagnabit.
I’d say contact me directly and I can e-mail you a PayPal invoice.
I ship via USPS Priority, insured. Probably $9. If the shopping cart doesn’t tack shipping cost on to the price, I’ll have to contact you and get an okay to take it one. Sorry.
