Buffet R13 Bb Soprano Clarinet

NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

If you are unfamiliar with clarinets, the Bb soprano clarinet is the primary clarinet played in orchestras and bands.

Buffet is the leader in manufacturing professional clarinets.  The vast majority of symphonic clarinet players play the Buffet model R13 clarinet.

This clarinet is made of dense, tight grained grenadilla wood (African black wood).  This wood is so dense that it sinks in water instead of floating.  This has been the wood that clarinets have been made from for decades.

The Buffet R13 has a polycylindrical bore.  This means that the inner bore is not a simple, smooth cylinder.  The diameter of the bore changes throughout the instrument.  Also, the tone holes are undercut.  This gives the Buffet R13 the purity of tone and accuracy of intonation that is lacking from other clarinets.

This particular clarinet was hand selected by a professional player from a large batch of R13’s.  Purchased new in 1998.  One owner.

Serial number – 462xxx

This instrument has been well-maintained, Pads and corks replaced as necessary.  The upper joint keys have cork pads.  The lower joint has skin pads. The barrel is original and is marked “R13 B660 B”
