Selmer NY Series 40 Flute
The Selmer New York “Series 40” flutes were a head-to-head solid silver competitor for the Haynes commercial flutes of the era.
Serial Number 4584, made around 1947.
Nice full tone. Tunes well to 440.
Note that the RH touch which would normally sound a Bb closes the B on this instrument, the same as a Haynes of the same era. The RH index finger F touch closes the Bb as normal. That B closure works well since the RH index finger is generally a lot more nimble than the thumb and flutes trill quite a bit.
Comes with case cover and case, as shown.
