Comparison of two Conn alto necks with underslung octave keys.
Both are from 26M Connqueror alto saxes:
- s/n 267xxx – 1935
- s/n 282xxx – 1937
They have distinctly different knurling on the microtuner.
The 1937 horn is marked “VIII” on the body and has a corresponding “VIII” on the neck.
The 1935 horn’s neck is marked “STD’D M” near the knurling of the microtuner. This may possibly correspond with the fact that the 1935 horn serial number is preceded by an “M”, as in “M967xxxA” whereas the 1937 horn’s serial number is not preceded by an “M”. Just a guess.
